Fiscal Officer
Beavercreek Township voters elect a fiscal officer every four years. The Fiscal Officer is responsible for keeping the Township's records and is elected to oversee and safeguard township funds as the Township’s auditor and treasurer. The Fiscal Officer responsibilities are to:
- Supervision and maintenance of the township financial records and management of a $38,000,000.00 appropriations budget
- Supervision and maintenance of the township payroll records and management of a $9,461,136.00 payroll
- Ensuring all township employees are paid correctly under state and federal laws
- Working closely with the Oversight Investment Committee on township investments
- Preparation and maintenance of a timely accurate record of proceedings of all trustee meetings and the township’s accounts and transactions
- Coordination and involvement in statutory audits
- Regular attendance at Board of Trustees meeting but no less than one meeting of the Board during each quarter of the year
- Notification to the Board of Elections of vacancies in office and boundary changes of the township
- Administration of oaths and certification of affidavits
About the Fiscal Officer
Alex Zaharieff was appointed May 1, 2023, as the Township Fiscal Officer. Overall, Mr. Zaharieff has thirty-five years of local government experience which includes service for three diverse jurisdictions.
Mr. Zaharieff has both a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree from Wright State University. He currently serves, has past service, or membership on the following Boards and organizations:
- International City/County Management Association
- Ohio City/County Management Association
- Dayton Area Managers Association
- Ex-Officio Member of the Board of Directors Beavercreek Chamber
- Rotary Club of Beavercreek
- Civilian Co-Chair of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Environmental Restoration Committee
- Greene County Career Center, Advisory Committee Member for Health/Legal Technology
- Greene County Career Center Superintendent's Advisory Committee
- Beavercreek City School District Superintendent's Advisory Committee
- Beavercreek Township Fire Code Board of Appeals
- Beavercreek Township Board of Zoning Appeals
- Board of Trustees for the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association
A Message from the Fiscal Officer
I am very proud to serve the great community of Beavercreek Township that I have called home for over 50 years. I believe that it is important to invest in the long-term health and growth of our township. I will work with the Board of Trustees to identify strategic investments in infrastructure, facilities and services that will benefit our community for years to come.
I am excited to be part of this community and to serve as your Township Fiscal Officer. I am committed to working collaboratively with our township employees, elected officials and residents to ensure that we are financially responsible, transparent, and accountable while making customer service our number one priority.
