Fire Administration

pictureBeavercreek Township Fire Department's Fire Administration office is located at 851 Orchard Lane, Beavercreek Ohio. Administrative staff and the Prevention Bureau share a facility for their daily operations. Normal business hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays. Fire Administration is made up of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief of Operations, Deputy Chief of Administration and Administrative Assistants.

David VandenBos, Fire Chief
Serving since 1991
During David’s 20+ years of service to the Beavercreek Township Fire Department, he has served in positions of increasing responsibility and authority. He has vast knowledge and is experienced in all areas of the fire service including operations and administration. With that, he obtained a broad range of experience within the fire department. Those experiences to mention a few have been coordinating two successful tax levy campaigns, improving fund management and develop cost centers, the selection, planning, and implementing of Firehouse Software records management system, served as a representative to the Miami Valley Fire and EMS Alliance, the Southwest Ohio Fire Safety Council and was the assistant director to the Greene County Joint Fire Investigation Task Force.

John Mercs, Deputy Chief
Serving since 1990
John Mercs began his career with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department in June of 1990. Over the years he has achieved: certification as a fire instructor, helping to train and develop the skills and strengths of our personnel. Promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1995, began managing several programs, including the management of EMS operations for the department. In 2003, he was assigned to oversee the operation and activities of the fire prevention bureau until being promoted to battalion chief in January of 2005; in 2007 achieved the status of Certified Public Manager, an intensive course of executive leadership training, through the State Of Ohio. John has been crucial to the success of the organization through the supervision of EMS operations, guiding the organization to become one of regions leaders in EMS care and education. John demonstrates the vision and dedication necessary to ensure that the Beavercreek Township Fire Department is prepared to meet the current and future needs of the community.

Scott Dorsten, Deputy Chief
Serving since 1986
Scott Dorsten began his career with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department in December of 1986 as a volunteer; in May of 1990 he was hired as a career firefighter; in May of 2001 Scott was promoted to Lieutenant. Over the years he has achieved certifications as a Fire and Emergency Medical Services instructor, which has helped him train and develop the skills and strengths of our personnel. Scott has managed several programs and has been involved in almost every aspect of the organization throughout his career. He has overseen the operations of the Fire Prevention Bureau, functioned as the training and safety officer, and has been the liaison to the Beavercreek Police Department for dispatching, and communications. In 2007, Scott achieved the status of Certified Public Manager, an intensive course of executive leadership training, through the State Of Ohio. Currently Scott is attending the Ohio Fire Executive program through the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association. This is a rigorous leadership program that focuses on the fire service. He demonstrates the abilities, vision and dedication necessary to ensure that the Beavercreek Township Fire Department is prepared to meet the current and future needs of the community.

Michele Grogean, Office Manager (Fire Admin)
Serving since 2006
Michele Grogean is a 1997 graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. She has been the Office Manager in the Fire Department Administrative Office for the Beavercreek Township Fire Department since July 2006. Michele helps assist the Fire Chief and his staff along with the fire stations with any administrative needs. Her responsibilities include answering the phone, scheduling the training rooms for seminars, meetings, and department trainings, making the reflective address signs, writing articles for the newspapers and newsletters, organizing the mail, filing, ordering office supplies, updating the fire department intranet site and website and a lot of other administrative duties.

Rochelle Fuller, Administrative Assistant (Prevention Bureau) and Records and EMS Billing Clerk
Serving since 2002
Rochelle Fuller is and Administrative Assistant for the Fire Prevention Bureau. She has been employed with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department since October 2002. Rochelle performs secretarial duties for the Fire Prevention Bureau. She is also the medical records clerk and is responsible for monitoring our EMS billing company.
